About

The Almada murals at the Maritime Stations Interpretation Centre are dedicated to the monumental mural panels by the Portuguese artist Almada Negreiros. Beyond displaying and explaining the artworks, that took the artist over 2 years to complete, the centre is probably the best place to learn about Negreiros’s life and discover other works by him across Lisbon.

Moreover, the space reveals lesser-known moments of Portuguese and European history, sharing personal stories of well-known figures departing Europe during World War II, as well as immigrants arriving through these maritime stations.
