About

Amarante is a beautiful city in northern Portugal set along the Tâmega River full of life, history and culture: the 17th century São Gonçalo and its historic bridge, the cozy Amadeo de Souza Cardoso Art Museum, a modern performance art theater, iconic cafes with river views.

Amarante is also a great destination for food lovers and is particularly known for its traditional convent (mainly made with egg yolk) sweets, including papos de anjo, brisas do Tâmega and São Gonçalos.

It is a beautiful town to visit all year round but is especially cozy around Christmas!
